Desert Life: Some Thoughts + a Winter Solstice Adventure

Some Thoughts

“We are all a paradoxical bundle of rich potential that consists of both neurosis and wisdom.”

I came across this statement in the latest book I finished, The Places that Scare You, by Pema Chödrön, and I think this is a very important statement for all of us.

We’re all at different levels of neurosis and wisdom. Yes, ALL of us. We need to work on respecting others for where they’re at with each of theirs. At the same time, we all need to work on recognizing each of our strengths and weaknesses too, in order to help create a more enlightened humanity.

So many more thoughts on this, but I’m going to keep it short and sweet for now. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.

An Adventure

I had all sorts of ideas of what we might do on the winter solstice (a creosote wreath has been on my mind), but when Maurice suggested we go for a walk – and plan to not be back home too soon – I was all in.

This is what a 3.5 hour stroll through our neighborhood looks like.

Julie, I love where you guys live. The solitude and peace, I can dig it! I could be happy there as long as I have my cats.
